with departure from Hanalei Bay, the closest departure location to
the sights. This means less time traveling and more time exploring
and snorkeling! Your journey begins as you kick off your shoes
and paddle an outrigger canoe out to the Ku'uipo, a 40' sailing
catamaran. The boat offers open deck seating, a shaded cockpit area
and marine toilet facility. You'll set sail westward from Hanalei
Bay along the mystical coastline of Lumahai and Bali Hai as you
"talk story" with Captain Bob, a 30-year veteran sailor and expert
on Kauai's North Sore and Na Pali Coast.
SeaFun Snorkeling Tour
The
first snorkel spot is usually at Lawai Beach. The reef is about 50
yards from shore and the water inside the reef is about 8-10 feet
deep. You'll spend most of the time on this first snorkel hovering
over the reef in just a few feet of water. There is a great variety
of species here including, butterfly fishes, tangs, surgeon fishes,
wrasses, and puffers. You are in the water for up to 45 minutes
before taking a break. After everyone is refreshed, those who
are comfortable with a slightly more advanced snorkel are taken to
the second area to see the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles.
